that i wish i could say we found. newt gingrich ran a campaign against mitt romney about mitt romney's register on pain capital and how he made his money. and newt gingrich solved it. not only newt gingrich, but with the help of one of the super packs, funded by not a nice man. >> speak for yourself. innocuous and nice man to mitt romney as you all may recall. was the mayor like an added the beginning about bain capital that they put on the internet? the point is newt gingrich and some of the republican attack mitt romney on his record as being. it was an important part of the story to talk about how mitt romney had made his money, was an important table setting. it's not that anyone has anything against mitt romney for being rich, but we all make our choices in terms of how we make money. and so, this is one of the, probably the most powerful add that i think we've done. other consultants had taught about his conversation is very powerful. so check this out and we'll talk about it. >> not knowing what it was for. just days later, all three ships were told to assemble into our house

campaign that happened last year during which you have mitt romney, new gingrich and rick santorum agree enthusiastically we need immigration reform to attract more high skilled immigrants and they kept asking what about the border? literally they were having a little conversation about the bill, and then it was completely ignored because that doesn't sound like a border of sense to me. then mitt romney gave a speech about immigration reform that was oriented of facilitating the family unification and also for skilled visas etc. this is a marginal issue yet interestingly in the most recent years that we have data, you have more immigration, more skilled immigration than less skilled and also more presentation from asia than latin america. that doesn't mean any kind of change and it doesn't mean that mitt romney isn't doing well with the voters, yet it is also true that the immigration the date is framed in some ways and framed and others, it's important to keep in mind particularly as the composition of the population changes. i guess i see these questions are differently in that i see t

, dick darvin making a deal with the democratic leaders of the house and senate. or gingrich, clinton in 87, there's plenty of legislation the other model would be reagan 81, bush '01 on the tax by which is to go pick off 10 democratic centers, or 70 democratic house members is a republican president, or vice versa, a democratic president reducing. and i think be an interesting question for romney to does he think he is to sit down with harry reid or does he think he has to go sit down with joe manchin and mark warner and eight other, and i think the same for president obama. i think, i think republicans are underestimate how strong obama will be if he is reelected. and i don't believe boehner if he is a 15 vote margin and as i don't think he can hold all the republicans against an obama version, for example, but they're still in of moderate republicans. the leadership is stronger than it used to be. i think they have more leverage over mbs, partly because of campaign finance issues and other things. but having said that, i think obama going to some lamar alexander's of the world, the

or gingrich and clinton in 97 with plenty of legislation passed that way. the other model would be reagan 81, bush 01, i would say which is to go pickoff the democratic senators or some of the democratic house members of you are a republican president or a democratic president could do the same and it would be an interesting tactical question for romney does he have to sit down with harry reid or sit down with joe manchin and mark warner and eight others and the same for president obama. i think the republicans are underestimating how strong obama will be if he is reelected and i do not believe that john boehner can hold if he has a margin in the house i don't think that he can hold off the republicans against dan obama version of the deal. the believes are stronger than the used to be. i think that we have more leverage over members in the campaign finance issues and other things but i think obama going to the lamar alexander in the senate and there are some equivalence in the house, even if the democrats don't control both houses of congress he would have some leverage to go round the lead

's an accident. the climate of the world is changing. the only plan elt so far we live in unless gingrich is right and we'll have a colony on the moon. as long as we are here, we have to whatever we can do save the planet. we have to ensure that our air is clear. do we not want to have clean air. of course we go. there were so many emergency air quality i can't count how many here in the richmond. i think the same way around the state. we have to look at the regulations to see if they hurt the coal industry as much as you say they are. we have one of the best fields off of coast for here for wind farm. why aren't we trying to invest our money in wind farms or solar? i mean the sun the there for the next 90 million or billion years. npr one night. why aren't we doing what we can recycle and reuse. the days of the fossil fuels are numbered. whether we look at what's happening in the middle east or not. we have the national security issues related to the access to oil and we will ultimately have national security issues with regard to access to coal. if anyone is seeing anybody interviewed i

gingrich really push the library to make comments and all that information available to the public. as we started plastering the transition last time around and going forward through this congress, i think the speaker, the reader can cantor and the republican congress as a whole has tried to clean on transparency issues and made them a priority. this not manifested in a number of different ways during our rules package, most notably was the rules change, which set for the first time in the history of the republic that paper document and electronic brake weblog. if something was available electronically, it was as good as if it had been printed by the government printing office, stuck in a truck, delivered here and distributed to offices. there are other things we did, mandatory webcasting, try to really push committees to do that, maximum extent practical. we also as part of the effort to make it tronic taxed available and measure around the first to comply with the three day rule. we created house.gov, centralized portal in the coming week. so far, for all of this year, that has been onl

gingrich was talking about. spent another question. recently one of mitt romney's operatives made a statement to reporters when they're pushing him on the claim about, well, it's our most effective at and we're not going to have our campaign dictated by fact checkers. i think a lot of probably naÏve news editors were rather shocked at the cynicism that they heard coming out of this polltakers mouth. so my question, you've been around the longest, were you shocked? did this surprise you? >> i really can't say that it was because, you know, they had kind of behavior that way all along. they are certainly not terribly worried. they're not worried enough to change the rhetoric when something is pointed out to them. and in speed do you mean the romney campaign's we? campaign's? >> now. >> [inaudible] >> this is -- my take on this, i'm in the context of that question and answer was actually they were saying that this is the most effective ad, and john of abc said that got four pinocchios, so the response as well, we are not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers. and wh

with newt gingrich. we have to get back to that context when it is not about political party but taking care of people and moving forward. leadership is not about blame. it is the house's fall for the president's fault. leadership is about rolling up your sleeves and locking yourself in a room and leading by example. congress has not been able to come of with a budget in 2,000 days. that is ridiculous. let's come up with a budget. there is legislation that is bipartisan. no budget no pay legislation says if congress doesn't do its job and have a responsible budget they don't get paid. that is a step in the right direction. my pledge is i will co-sponsor that legislation which is bipartisan and holds congress accountable for doing with their job which is passing a budget and they haven't done it in 2,000 days. has the no budget no pay legislation. >> the question is about compromise. give us another ec would be willing to compromise on. bera: there are many of us who thing no child left behind is going in the wrong direction. i will stand against my own party and the president. i don't think
